3-6-23 Reflections on Scripture | Monday of the Second Week of Lent

Gospel
Luke 6:36-38

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

"Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure\
will in return be measured out to you.”

Reflection

Whatever you give comes back to you. One of the most interesting images to ponder because it seems selfish. If we do things for others, then we receive something back. But it’s more an invitation to be there for others and not there because you’re going to get something back, but because there's just something in you that wants to give.

Work with that image of that which is in you that is naturally drawn to giving. Not because what you get. Just because it feels so good.

The Closing Prayer

Closing prayer. Father. Your generosity is beyond our imagining. And if we are being filled with good things, we feel the things you are giving to us. We want to give back. And when we give to our brothers and sisters. We give it to you. Amen.
