Gospel
Luke 12:35-38

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Gird your loins and light your lamps
and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding,
ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself,
have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.
And should he come in the second or third watch
and find them prepared in this way,
blessed are those servants.”

Reflection
The work of Jesus is to reveal who the father is. In this passage, it's beautiful to see the image of a master who represents God coming and finding those that he has as his servants, that they're open and receptive to his coming. Then he can reveal fully who he is. The God who nurtures, the God who serves, who feeds those that call upon him for strength.

Closing Prayer
Father, the gift of your presence. The gifts of your desire that we awaken ourselves to all that you are to us. Bless us with this trust and understanding of your role in our life. And we ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
