Join Msgr. Don Fischer as he reads and delivers a short reflection on today’s gospel, followed by 3 1/2 minutes of contemplative music and a closing prayer. Msgr. Don hopes that today’s reflection on the gospel will empower you to carry the Word in your heart throughout the day.

Gospel
Mark 12:35-37

As Jesus was teaching in the temple area he said,
"How do the scribes claim that the Christ is the son of David?
David himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said:

The Lord said to my lord,
'Sit at my right hand
until I place your enemies under your feet.'

David himself calls him 'lord';
so how is he his son?"
The great crowd heard this with delight.

Reflection

The Pharisees heard a truth that they would not agree to. They were filled with a destructive spirit. It says a lot about the freedom we need to have, about our own decisions, about what we know is true.

God has promised you and me the truth. All we need to do is seek it. Admitting. Accepting that we don't yet fully know.

Closing Prayer

Openness of mind is a gift that you give us. Help us to listen to your word. And to listen to the way life unfolds around us with an open mind so that we can be taught and learn the things that we do not already see. Truth changes us, and when we're open to it, we delight in the change. And we ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
